“Intuition is seeing with the soul”
— DEAN KOONTZ
When was the last time you had to make a big decision, a potentially life changing decision? One of those moments when you have to choose to go left or right? Or a decision that is crucial to your future, as you choose your own adventure. Do you listen to your head, or to your heart? The rational mind is a powerful thing. But your intuition rules.Have you ever made a decision based solely on logic, while feeling that it may not be the right way? Only to end up regretting it later? By learning to listen and to respect the power of your intuition you can make better decisions and live a more fulfilling life.
Intuition is something I have always been drawn to. In fact, I love going to the left when everything tells me to go right, just because I love following my intuition. Your intuition is your unconscious reasoning. It is the knowing without knowing. Your intuition is the guidance that quietly whispers to you the answer that will lead you to the very best outcome possible, if you just learn to let go and give it a chance. Your intuition is the subconscious leader that many people fail to give proper respect to. Don’t you think it’s time to give it a chance?
To better follow your intuition, try:
Find time for silence: Take moments in each day to clear your mind of distractions. Turn off the car radio, the computer and the TV at home. Spend half an hour in quiet meditation or solace. It can help you become more in tune with the intuitive signals your body is sending you.
Be body conscious: Have you ever felt sick to your stomach after making a (wrong) decision? Quite possibly it’s not too late to turn back. Learn to appreciate the little signs and signals from your body, and pay attention to energy shifts in your physical body – pain is telling you something is wrong.
Commune with nature: Aim to get at least sometime outside every single day. Nature has a way of bringing you back to your roots. It also helps you to get distracted, and distraction can actually help you come to a decision. Your brain processes information on a subconscious level even if you are not actively focusing on it or thinking about it. If you’re struggling to make a decision, go outside, do something else, then return to the problem, and go with the decision that feels right.
Reflect about yourself: Keeping a journal can be a great way to get in touch with your feelings and unlock your intuitive side. Write out whatever you’re feeling or thinking about. Start noticing “markers” or “signs” that bring about particular sensations in your gut. Stream of consciousness writing, or just write down the first word or thought that pops into your head. This way, you will be more aware of what’s going on in your subconscious mind.
Get creative: Intuition is also called gut-feeling, because it seems to have got to do something with the gut. In many of the ancient religions, there is such concept of the fourth brain. It says that the brain not only sits in the head, but there is one part at the solar plexus: that’s where intuitions come. Our conscious ego is a small part of the human psyche. Tap into your internal artist by drawing, writing, painting, or making music. Does the answer manifest?
Let go: You don’t have to control everything. Life will happen regardless of whether you choose to overthink it or not. Deep breath. Relax.
Using your sixth sense is just like working a muscle, it will get stronger the more you use it.
